James Murdoch is an award-winning audio editor and sound mixer with more than 25 years of experience in music production and audio post-production. He began his career as an acclaimed music producer before transitioning into film and television, a shift sparked when independent filmmakers, impressed by his engineering expertise, invited him to mix their projects. What began as a skeptical “yes” quickly became a natural fit: his meticulous attention to detail, musical sensibility, and deep technical knowledge proved ideal for the demands of audio post.
Today, James is a highly sought-after specialist in dialogue editing. He has contributed to more than 100 documentaries, feature films, and commercial projects, and has been part of multiple award-winning teams recognized for excellence in post-production.
James also serves on the board of the Alberta Post-Production Association (APPA) and is the co-producer and co-writer of the live-action children’s series Dan Sandwich. He is skilled at bridging creative objectives with technical solutions, helping clients refine their sonic vision while ensuring audio workflows, clarity, and storytelling remain at the highest standard.
